It’s not every day the Rays CEO offers to buy you a beer. But it did happen yesterday for anyone heading to a game in St. Pete this April. The Tampa Bay Rays and CEO Ken Babby announced a new promotion that will give ticket buyers $10 in virtual stadium bucks for every ticket bought to a home game in April as the Rays return to Tropicana Field.
The program, “This One’s On Us,” allows attendees to use the $10 per ticket in ‘Burst Bucks’ to purchase concessions or merchandise at Tropicana Field for any of the 11 Rays home games over the course of the month. T-shirts, hot dogs, beers, sodas – run up your bill however you like, and you’ll get $10 taken off.
The $10 in Burst Bucks expires at the end of each game, and if tickets are forwarded or transferred, the Burst Bucks will be transferred with the ticket. To redeem the gift, just open the Rays Wallet in the MLB Ballpark app or scan your digital ticket at checkout. In the app, fans can pay by using a single QR code scan with any eligible discounts or Burst Bucks automatically applied.
The Rays return to The Trop this April for the first time since the fall of 2024, following Hurricane damage that October. Their grand return includes a six-game homestand to open the home slate, April 6-12, with games against the Chicago Cubs and New York Yankees.
With the opening of a fan shop by the stadium, a massive street festival for fans last month, and now the This One’s On Us special, the franchise is making a concerted effort under new ownership to connect with the fan base.
“On behalf of our new ownership group and this exciting new moment for our franchise, we really wanted to do something special for the community to welcome them back to Tropicana Field and reward the resilience they’ve shown over the past eighteen months,” Babby said. “This is our way of saying thank you.”
